Mission
The Diocese of Joliet Office of Mission seeks to assist followers of Christ in responding to God’s call to go forth into the world to “make disciples of all nations” (Mt. 28:19). We empower parishioners to live on mission in their own lives, within the diocese, and around the world and support them throughout their journey through catechesis, evangelization, and putting faith into action.
Missionary Cooperation Plan
The Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP) supports the proclamation of the Gospel, the building of the Church and the work and witness of mission priests, religious Sisters, and Brothers, and lay pastoral leaders. These missionaries provide food, education, evangelization, and medical care to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Through their work, they reveal the compassionate heart of Jesus.

Evangelization Training
From an idea brought forth by Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Spies comes monthly community-centered gatherings at the Blanchette Catholic Center centered around answering one question: “How do I talk about my relationship with God?”
The Office of Mission offers many opportunities for parishioners in the Diocese to put their faith into action: 2 annual mission trips, a service retreat, Alpha leadership events, Divine Renovation Parish Renewal assistance, and coordinates the Missionary Cooperation Plan.
These “Evangelization 1:1” gatherings allow parishioners the space to learn how to share their faith, practice sharing their faith, listen to one another, and pray with and for one another. Furthermore, this is also a time to socialize and grow in friendship with others from around the diocese.
Join us at the Blanchette Catholic Center on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 7 PM – 9 PM. This will run October 2025 through September 2026.
Upcoming Mission Trips
Walk in the Footsteps of St. Katherine Drexel
St. Katherine Drexel gave the whole of her wealth to serve those most underprivileged in the United States in the early 20th Century.
This is a call to Young Adults (ages 20-39) to venture to the Navajo Nation to serve others, grow in your relationship with Christ, and share the Gospel!
This team will make St. Michael’s Indian School their home for one week. Days will include service to the community, intentional time for prayer and the sacraments, community time with the mission team, and fun!
St. Michael’s Indian School is a Testament to the work of this great American saint. Our hope is that this community will help you realize your call to follow in St. Katherine’s footsteps and be a saint!.
Applications will open in January 2026

Joliet Returns to Colombia in 2026
In 2026, the Diocese of Joliet returns to Colombia to serve La Hijas de La Madre de Dios.
Last year, our mission team helped serve these sisters paint a school in the impoverished “Group B” neighborhood outside of Villavicencio.
This year, the sisters have invited our team back to their spiritual home of “Marilandia” just outside of Bogota. Amond other projects, our aim this year is to help the sisters construct a few structures that will assist them in carrying out their mission to help others receive, live, and give Jesus Christ.
Applications will be open in early October.
